Quamel Schaffer, 30, is the second man jailed in Malikah McLaughlin’s killing.
A residence’s Xfinity camera in the first block of South Bellevue Avenue captured the shooting just after 1 a.m. Aug. 28.
McLaughlin is seen walking west in front of the residence before disappearing from view. She later appears walking the other way.
It’s at that point that three men off screen get out of a dark colored Infiniti sedan with a silver hood, “all holding firearms,” according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.
McLaughlin is seen on camera looking over her shoulder, and then falling to the ground as she tries to run.
One man with a gun appears, shooting several times after she is already on the ground.
The three then get back into the car, with two in front and one in the back seat. Someone then opens fire on the vehicle, striking Lester Robinson, according to the affidavit.
McLaughlin was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been jailed since his release from the hospital.
The third man has not been publicly identified. Two women are also named in the affidavit for deleting incriminating evidence from their phones and accounts. BreakingAC is not naming them at this time since they have not been criminally charged.
The charges do not indicate which man was the shooter.
Robinson was ordered held in jail at a detention hearing last week, where the judge pointed out he scored the highest possible risk for both failures to appear and likelihood to reoffend under bail reform’s public safety assessment.
His prior convictions have included sentences ranging from 30 days to five years, Superior Court Judge Nancy Ridgway said.
Schaffer remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Robinson was moved to the Mercer County jail Sept. 22, after Schaffer’s arrest, jail records show.
BreakingAC has a copy of the video showing McLaughlin’s killing but is not publishing it out of respect for the victim and her family.
It’s not the first time someone in the family has been lost to violence.
McLaughlin’s younger brother, Michael McLaughlin, was just 17 when he was killed in 2018.
During a dice game gone wrong, the teen was shot in the back as he fled. Rashaad Norwood is serving a 25-year sentence for the crime.
