A “persistent offender” admitted Wednesday to eluding police in Hammonton and conspiring to distribute cocaine in Atlantic City.
Tyree Bey, 30, of Philadelphia, drove as fast as 124 miles per hour as he fled a motor vehicle stop Jan. 20, 2018, on the Atlantic City Expressway in Hammonton.
His speed placed “other motorists, bystanders and law enforcement in danger,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Will Reynolds said.
Bey also admitted to third-degree charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute related to an investigation by Atlantic City police at the Fox Manor on Aug. 16, 2017.
A digital scale used to weigh narcotics, a razor covered with white residue, multiple Ziploc-style bags and $2,398 cash that was stacked and stored in denominations were all found with Bey, according to the charges.
Bey is expected to receive a persistent offender sentence of six years when he is sentenced Nov. 30. He would have to serve at least three years before he is eligible for parole.
He must also forfeit the money seized.
