A fire in Galloway Township displaced 18 units early Saturday morning.
Police responded to Apache Court just after 5 a.m. and found a building with dozens of apartments engulfed in flames.
All surrounding fire departments were notified and responded, police said.
Officers went floor by floor to make sure everyone evacuated safely.
Officials are checking debris to determine if all residents escaped.
One officer was being treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Campus for smoke inhalation.
Galloway Township EMS treated numerous victims on scene for similar issues.
Firefighters were able to control the fire and extinguish it, although a time frame was not given.
Once several fire departments arrived on scene, they were able to gain control of the large fire and extinguish it.
The Galloway Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross were contacted to assist displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
