An Atlantic City man was arrested after he allegedly brandished a handgun Saturday night.
Police were called to South Carolina and Baltic avenues at 10:42 p.m. for a man with a gun On, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Officer Anthony Nastasi responded found a man matching the description of the suspect, according to the report.
As the officer spoke to Iman McCoy, the suspect started to walk away and refuse orders to stop matching, according to the report.
After a brief chase, Nastasi captured McCoy a short distance away, where he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
McCoy, 25, was in possession of a defaced handgun that was loaded and about three grams of suspected heroin, according to the report.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a handgun, possession of a defaced firearm, resisting arrest and possession of heroin.
McCoy had a conviction from 2019 for writing bad checks and terroristic threats, court records show. He was given a non-custodial term after serving 197 days in the county jail.
He also has an outstanding shoplifting case from September, along with a failure to appear in court from May in a criminal trespassing case.
McCoy is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
