An Atlantic City man was arrested a with a loaded gun after getting into an altercation with another man, police said.
Shemar Hendricks, 23, was found walking with a young juvenile after police responded to the report of a man with a handgun at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
The 911 caller told police the dispute happened in the area of Pennsylvania and Pacific avenues, according to the report.
Officer Byron Zelaya-Chavez found the suspect walking around New Jersey and Pacific avenues with a juvenile and stopped him with help from Detective Aaron Jones and Officer Latray Butcher, Aristizabal said.
Hendricks was found in possession of a handgun fitted with a high-capacity magazine and loaded with hollow-point ammunition, according to the report. The gun had no serial number, rendering it a “ghost gun,” due to the difficulty in tracing such a weapon.
Hendricks was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a “ghost gun” and endangering the welfare of a child.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
