A Camden man was convicted Monday in the brutal rape of a Claridge Hotel housekeeper.
Kye Hardison, now 35, was convicted of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, and second-degree charges of sexual assault and burglary.
The first-degree conviction would normally carry a sentence of 10 to 20 years, but because of his criminal history the state will ask for an extended term, the Atlantic County prosecutor said.
Hardison was on probation for two cases out of Camden at the time of the attack, on charges that include threats and drugs.
He also had two prior arrests this year, including twice violating a domestic violence restraining order.
He has been jailed since his arrest.
Sentencing is pending an Avenel evaluation, required in all sexual crimes.
