Two Pleasantville residents were airlifted to the hospital after a gas can explosion in the back of a residence.
First-responders were called to the home at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for an explosion and burn victims, Fire Capt. Joe Ricci said.
Firefighters, TriCare EMS, AtlantiCare medics and Pleasantville police responded to the area.
Due to the severity of the injuries, two medevac helicopters were called to the area, and landed on the Pleasantville Recreational Fields at West Park Avenue, Ricci said.
There was a fire in a tree behind the home, he said. It was contained and extinguished by firefighters on location.
The patients were flown to burn centers in Philadelphia with second- and third-degree burns.
Their names and conditions were not released.
The cause is under investigation by the Fire Department’s Fire Cause Investigation Unit with assistance from the state’s Division of Fire and Safety.
