A fire ripped through an Egg Harbor Township restaurant overnight, officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. Monday to A Touch of Italy.
Cardiff Chief Gil Zonge responded and found heavy smoke and fire venting from the roof, according to the report.
He requested a second alarm.
Apparatus and members from Cardiff, Bargaintown, Farmington, Scullville and West Atlantic City were at the scene for four hours.
Auxiliary members also responded to support the firefighters.
The incident commanders were Zonge, township Fire Chief Rob Winkler, Zonge and Cardiff Assistant Chief Bill Danz III.
The fire investigator gave no comment other than to say the fire remains under investigation.
"It is with a saddened heart that we must temporarily close the restaurant," A Touch of Italy posted on its Facebook page Tuesday. "A fire in our storage area has caused fire and smoke damage throughout the building. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with our staff, they are the heart of this business. Our main goal is to get our staff and customers back in the door as soon as possible."
Drone video shot by Overhead Video Productions shows the scene.
