  • News

A Ventnor man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed an employee while trying to rob an Atlantic City store.

Officers Moustafa Maarouf and James Eckert were called to a convenience store in the 400 block of North Tennessee Avenue at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

Several witnesses flagged them down to report a disturbance inside the store, according to the report. Inside they found Jason Hill being held down by two store employees.

The officers learned that Hill tried to steal an item when he was confronted by an employee, Aristizabal said. A fight led to Hill stabbing the employee with a knife.

Hill was taken into custody without incident.

The employee was transported by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment of his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

Hill, 42, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
