Linwood police warn of burglary, car theft attempts

  • News

Linwood police are warning residents that suspects may be trying to break into homes to get the keys to vehicles.

Photos taken from surveillance video show three masked suspects dressed all in black searching arounda home on Woodlynne Boulevard, police said.

The suspects appear to be searching for hidden keys outside the residence, police said of the footage from 4:20 Sunday morning. It is suspected they were trying to get into the home to retrieve keys to high-end vehicles in the garage.

The residents discovered the footage after waking up later in the morning, according to the report.

"Unfortunately these types of crimes are trending in (the state)," police said in a statement. "They may be targeting communities like ours to steal vehicles."

Police are suggesting the following:

1. Keep the keys to your vehicle away from the vehicle.

2. Just because your car is in the garage, it still needs to be locked.

3. Lock all windows and doors of your house and remove all hidden keys from the exterior of your property.

4. Avoid social media exposure with your vehicles.
