Atlantic City man gets 3½ years in separate gun, drug cases

An Atlantic City man who was found with a gun and drugs with another drug case pending was sentenced to 3½ years in prison Tuesday.

Hamid Palmer, 23, was first arrested May 3, 2021, after police were dispatched to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for two men in a fight.

Palmer bit the other man during the altercation, according to that report. Police found suspected methamphetamine inside the car where they men were fighting, and both were charged.

Palmer was out on a summons in that case when he got arrested April 16, 2022, by police responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the 400 block of N. North Carolina Avenue.

He was arrested with a .38 Special, along with more than 100 bags of heroin and six grams of cocaine.

Palmer has been jailed since.

He pleaded guilty to both cases in June in exchange for two 3½-year sentences that will be served concurrently.

Palmer already has about 16 months of credit toward his mandatory sentence.

He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending his transfer to state prison.
