Atlantic City man admits to possession of stolen gun

  • News

An Atlantic city man admitted to illegally possessing a handgun last year.

Rakiy Newsome, 20, was wanted in a domestic incident last year when he was stopped Aug. 22, and found with a gun reported stolen from South Carolina.

The Springfield Model XD-40 was fitted with a high-capacity magazine loaded with hollow-point bullets.

Newsome pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit. He faces a three-year term with one year of parole ineligibility when he is sentenced Sept. 28.

He has served almost a year in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Newsome was released from jail following his plea.
