A Ventnor man was arrested a day after he allegedly fled police in a stolen Ford Bronco.
Maxim Kelly, 23, was tracked down after police terminated a chase to avoid endangering the public, Lt. David Gaeckle said.
Officer Jose Liriano first spotted the Bronco last Wednesday, and saw that it matched the description of one stolen from Atlantic City earlier that day, according to the report.
Liriano tried to stop the vehicle, which led to a brief pursuit, Gaeckle said.
The officer recognized Kelly from previous police contact, so he stopped the chase for the safety of the public, according to the report.
The next day, Liriano tracked down Kelly, and arrested him.
He is charged with eluding, receiving stolen property and obstruction.
Kelly also has a pending shoplifting case out of Ventnor from October, court records show. He was released on a summons in that case.
He is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing set for Wednesday.
Police Chief Joe Fussner credited Liriano’s determination and resourcefulness in the successful outcome.
