A shooting involving Longport police Saturday morning is under investigation.
No one was injured in the incident.
The call started as a welfare check to an unspecified residence at 11:42 a.m. Saturday, according to police.
The individual had not been heard from in several days.
During the response, an officer-involved shooting happened, according to the report. No details have been determined at this time.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is conducting the investigation.
The office "will conduct a thorough and impartial review of the circumstances surrounding the shooting," according to information released by the Police Department, which is cooperating with the office.
"The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities," Longport Police Chief Frank Culmone said. "We are committed to transparency and accountability in all police matters. We understand the concerns this incident may raise and assure the public that a comprehensive investigation is underway."
The chief also emphasized that additional details will be provided to the public at the conclusion of the investigation.
"This ensures that all facts are gathered, and the community receives accurate and complete information," he said.
