Atlantic City man gets 10 years for two armed robberies in 10 days

  • News

An Atlantic City man arrested for two armed robberies months after he was released from prison is headed back.

Dominique Devonish, 31, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday, after pleading to two robberies within 10 days in January.

Devonish was arrested Jan. 16, a day after his second armed robbery of a convenience store in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue. He stole a total of about $1,000 in the Jan. 5 and 15 knife-point robberies.

He was just released from prison the previous March 13, after serving a 7½-year sentence on robbery charges, BreakingAC reported at the time.

He was released in 2017, but went back in on a violation in January 2022.

Devonish pleaded guilty Oct. 25, and was sentenced to 10 years under the plea agreement. He must serve at least 85 percent — or 8½ years — before he is eligible for parole.

That will be followed by five years of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Atlantic City Police Department.
