Ventnor man charged with area graffiti

  • News

A Ventnor man is charged following an investigation into graffiti by Atlantic City and Ventnor police.

Throughout August, both departments were called about the vandalism, including completed art projects in Atlantic City's Lower Chelsea neighborhood, electrical boxes and businesses, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

The graffiti continued through November.

Steve Araujo, 40, was arrested last week in the first block of Oakland Avenue in Ventnor by Atlantic City Officer Albert Herbert, following an investigation with help from Atlantic City Officer Howard Mason and Ventnor Police Sgt. Kevin Brady.

Araujo’s residence was searched, and officers found evidence that included a sketchbook with artwork, 73 spray paint cans, 30 paint markers, about 75 spray nozzles, and 150 Sharpie markers.

Araujo was charged with criminal mischief and released on a summons.
