Atlantic City surveillance officers catch burglary suspect in the act

  • News

An Atlantic City man was arrested in a burglary after Surveillance Center personnel alerted officers to the crime while it was happening, police said.

Eliezer Nieves, 46, was found with bolt cutters after officers responded to a restaurant in the 3000 block of the Boardwalk at 2:25 Wednesday morning, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

Officers in the Police Department's Surveillance Center were able to give responding officers a description, according to the report.

Officer Kevin McGloin arrived and saw Nieves Nieves, walking away from the store, Fair said.

He was arrested without incident and had several outstanding warrants.

Nieves was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools, and put on a summons, court records show.

He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on several open warrants, including a failure to appear out of Pennsylvania.

Nieves also has at least two open cases from the summer, including a shoplifting charge out of Absecon, records show. He also has a pending drug case out of Atlantic City.

Anyone with information is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766. Information may also be submitted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
