Two people were rescued from a burning building Friday in Atlantic City.
The fire happened in a four-story wood-frame building on Pennsylvania Avenue, Fire Chief Scott Evans said.
The call came in at 8:09 a.m., and quickly went to a second alarm, he said. The fire was in a rear room on the fourth floor.
There were 15 people inside who were all safely evacuated.
Two firefighters rescued a man from a second-floor window onto a roof, bringing him down safely, Evans said.
A firefighter and police officer also helped a resident from the fourth-floor staircase.
A police officer and a resident were taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, he said.
The cause is under investigation.
