A section of the Boardwalk will need to be replaced after a debris fire sparked a large blaze on the wooden way Friday evening.
Atlantic City police officer spotted flames coming up from under the Boardwalk at New Jersey Avenue and called the Fire Department at about 5:40 p.m., city spokesman Andrew Kramer said.
One firefighter was being treated for a minor injury.
The blaze was under control by about 6:30 p.m. Firefighters stayed on the scene to put out hotspots.
A fire investigator was on the scene.
There was a homeless camp in the area, Fire Chief Scott Evans said.
