An Atlantic City man was found with a loaded gun and drugs after he fled police, according to charges filed against him.
Deshone Dunston, 24, already has pending drug and gun charges from a 2021 case, records show.
He is now jailed on charges stemming from his arrest Thurday.
Detectives Eric Evans, Alberto Valles and Aaron Jones, and Officer Ivaylo Ivanov were patrolling around Pennsylvania and Mediterranean avenues when they tried to stop Dunston as part of an investigation, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Dunston was seen discarding a gun as he fled, according to the report.
He was arrested a short distance away with four wax folds of suspected heroin, Aristizabal said.
The discarded gun was determined to be a "ghost gun," with no serial number to make it harder to track, according to the report.
That case is still pending, court records show.
He is now charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a ghost gun, possession of a weapon during a drug transaction, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public housing, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, resisting arrest and obstruction.
Dunston is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
