Egg Harbor Township police were called to two serious crashes at the same intersection within four hours Thursday night.
The crashes happened at the Black Horse Pike and English Creek Avenue.
Police were first called to the area just before 7 p.m. for what turned out to be a drunken-driving crash, according to the investigation.
Olivia Reese, 21, of Ventnor, struck a vehicle that was stopped in traffic, according to the report. It was determined she was under the influence liquor or drugs.
Reese was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto and several motor vehicle violations.
She was taken to the hospital for her injuries, Lt. Mark Mensch said. No information was released on the other driver.
The crash is being investigated by Officer Robert Platanella.
Police were again called to the intersection about four hours later for a crash that resulted in an overturned vehicle.
Tei-Anna Smith, 26, of New York, impacted a vehicle driven by Lenwood Cherry, 45, of Egg Harbor Township.
Cherry's vehicle overturned and struck a third vehicle, driven by 81-year-old Benjamin Noisette of Atlantic City.
Cherry was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Summonses are pending the outcome of the investigation by Officer Tahsin Chowdhury.
