A group coordinated by the Atlantic County Sheriff's Hope One initiative saved a man from an overdose Friday morning.
The agencies have been participating in a seven-day national count of those who are homeless or risk becoming homeless when they came upon the man suffering from an overdose.
The man was among those living in tents in the woods.
"We quickly jumped into action and provided the life-saving medication Narcan," the group wrote on Facebook. "Luckily, the man was revived and was taken to the hospital."
The group also spoke to him about how they can help.
"It was no coincidence that we arrived when we did," the group wrote.
Anyone suffering from substance abuse or who knows someone who is can reach out to 609-909-7200.
Residents can also request free doses of Narcan.
