Teen charged in Atlantic City killing arrested in Georgia

A 17-year-old wanted in the killing of an Atlantic City man was arrested in Georgia.

The teen, whose name is not being released due to his age, is charged in the Father's Day killing of Tamaj Bennett, 19.

Bennett was shot in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. June 18. He was rushed to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, according to the autopsy. The manner of death was a homicide.

The alleged killer was arrested at about 3:15 p.m. Monday at a residence in South Fulton, Ga., by members of the South Fulton Police Department, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

He is charged with murder and weapons offenses.

He is being detained at a facility in Georgia pending extradition back to Atlantic County.
