An Atlantic City man allegedly pointed a gun at a woman during a mental health crisis.
Police were called to the 300 block of Rosemont Place just before 2 p.m. Wednesday about an armed suspect holding a woman against her will, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Additional information let police know the man was having a mental health episode, Fair said.
The victim ran out of the residence shortly after officers arrived, according to the report.
Officers took up a tactical position around the residence to contact the suspect, Troy Williams.
Williams, 45, exited the home onto a balcony where Officer Jonathan Walsh engaged him in conversation, Fair said.
Williams agreed to leave the residence, and surrendered.
He was taken into custody without incident. Police found he was in possession of cocaine.
After confirming a handgun was pointed at the victim during an argument, police were granted a search warrant.
Sgt. Michael Tracy found two handguns, according to the charges.
The investigation was led by Tracy and Detective Thomas McCabe.
Williams is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, certain person not to possess a weapon, and possession of cocaine.
Williams is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing, which is scheduled for Tuesday.
