  • News

An Atlantic City man released from his second gun-related prison stint in March was found with two handguns in his vehicle during a drug crackdown Thursday, according to new charges.

Nasir Donaldson, 24, was one of two men arrested in the drug investigation who also has a history of shooting arrests.

Detectives were looking for drug activity during the surveillance operation in the 2500 and 2600 blocks of Pacific Avenue, in response to complaints about drug distribution there, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

Kareem Wiley, 24, and Alyssa Bishop, 28, were seen in a drug deal at about 12:45 p.m., according to the report.

Detectives Eric Evans, Alberto Valles and Christopher Dodson arrested both.

Wiley was found in with 28 grams of cocaine and 135 bags of heroin, Fair said. Bishop had several Oxycodone pills, along with active warrants for her arrest.

Wiley was released from the Atlantic County jail in June, after pleading guilty in an aggravated assault case, records show.

He was arrested Oct. 27, 2021, nearly a year after Atlantic City police put out a flyer saying he was wanted in a June 9, 2020, shooting that wounded two men. He was listed as living in Philadelphia at that time.

Wiley was released from the jail June 23, 2022, after taking a plea deal. He was given time served and is currently on probation, BreakingAC has learned.

Donaldson was arrested less than 40 minutes later in a separate alleged drug transaction.

Detectives Nicholas Berardis and Christopher Smith saw Donaldson acting as lookout as John Bonds bought cocaine from 24-year-old Daniel Smith Jr., Fair said.

Each had cocaine on them when arrested, according to the charges.

Officer Adrian Nunez-Santos’s K9 partner, Narco, also indicated there were drugs in Donaldson's vehicle, Fair said.

Police found more than 24 grams of cocaine, according to the report. But there also were two handguns, including one reported stolen from Georgia.

Donaldson's history of gun arrests goes back to when he was a juvenile.

He was 17 when he was involved in a shootout between rival gangs during a party inside a Trump Taj Mahal hotel room in March 2016, according to a previous plea. He was sentenced to 18 months’ juvenile probation under a plea agreement in that case.

Donaldson was again arrested in September 2019, after he ran from police and ditched a satchel with a loaded handgun.

He was sentenced to five years on July 27, 2020 in that case, state Department of Corrections records show. Donaldson was released March 21.

All five arrested are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, including Bonds, 55, who was charged on a summons for the drug case. It appears he may have had an outstanding warrant.
