A passenger was killed in a one-car crash Saturday night on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County.
Jessica Molina-Colmenares, 19, of Egg Harbor Township, was thrown from the vehicle, State Police said.
She was a passenger in the Honda Civic, which was traveling south in the area of milepost 64.4 in Stafford Township, when it went left off the road and overturned just before 6:30 p.m., Sgt. Philip Curry said.
Molina-Colmenares graduated from Egg Harbor Township High School last year.
The driver's injuries were not considered life-threatening. No information about driver was released.
The southbound left lane was closed for about an hour.
A Stafford Township officer was among five injured in a second crash as the officer headed to the scene, according to the report.
The marked car was trying to access the "authorized vehicles only" turnaround lane when the left side was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling north in the center lane, Curry said.
A rear seat passenger in the Jeep sustained serious injuries. Three additional passengers sustained minor injuries, with another reporting no injuries, according to the report. It did not specify the driver.
The left and center lanes of the parkway northbound were closed for about six hours as a result.
Both crashes are under investigation.
