A Pleasantville man arrested with a gun while on parole last year was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday.
Rasul Palmer, 31, has been in Bayside State Prison since May 24, 2022, when he was arrested after Pleasantville police found a handgun while serving a temporary restraining order.
The arrest violated his parole and put him back to finish out his term on multiple robbery and burglary charges.
He pleaded guilty in June to second-degree possession of a firearm by a certain person.
Palmer must serve all five years of his sentence. It would be concurrent to the term he is now serving, which would increase his current release date by about three years.
The woman requesting the restraining order described the gun at the hearing where she was granted the temporary restraining order. She said it would likely be at Palmer's residence in the 200 block of West Leeds Avenue or in his vehicle.
Palmer was served the order at his home, and complied without incident.
The gun 9 mm Ruger Model P98 was found during a search of his apartment.
