An Atlantic City man is charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a woman Thursday morning.
Police were called to an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Atlantic Avenue just after 8 a.m., Lt. Kevin Fair said.
They found the 26-year-old victim suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to the report.
Officer Thomas Gilardi rendered aid to the woman before medical personnel arrived, Fair said.
Emmanuel Pacheco-Pineda, 38, came out of the building and was taken into custody without incident by Officers Scott Sendrick and Jonathan Walsh.
The weapon used in the assault was found inside the building, Fair said.
Three children who were present were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel and released to a family member, Fair said.
The woman was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment. Her wounds are not considered life-threatening.
Pacheco-Pineda is charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
