Laser beam leads Atlantic City police to juvenile and loaded gun

  • News

A 15-year-old Pleasantville boy was arrested after a laser beam brought police to him.

Officer John Bell was in the 600 block of Kentucky Avenue at about 11:30 Tuesday night, when he saw a laser beam pointed at a residence, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

The officer approached a group, since it is common for firearms to be equipped with laser sights, Fair said.

A juvenile in the group then fled, dropping a handgun that Bell recovered, according to the report.

The gun was loaded and had a laser sight, Fair said.

The teen was arrested by Officer Cuong Sam in the 400 block of Haddon Avenue.

He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a high-capacity magazine, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.

The male was taken to the Morris County Juvenile Detention Center. His name is not being released due to his age.
