An Atlantic City man allegedly stopped a police officer, confessed he just stabbed a man and then turned over two knives.
Edwin Rivera, 44, is jailed on charges of aggravated assault and weapons offenses, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Rivera stopped Officer Consuelo Maldonado at 5:43 p.m. Saturday in the area of New York and Atlantic avenues, according to the report.
Maldonado could see the victim had blood on his neck, Fair said. He and fellow Officer Michael Rigalbuto tried to arrest Rivera, who resisted.
He was taken into custody and additionally charged with resisting arrest.
The 55-year-old victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment of his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.
Rivera is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing.
