A man rescued from a fiery Vineland crash by a good Samaritan last month allegedly was intoxicated at the time.
Brian Sheared, 44, is charged with driving while intoxicated and other crimes, including failure to install an ignition interlock device and driving while unlicensed.
Sheared has a history of driving while unlicensed and under the influence, according to court records.
He's had at least four failure to possess a license charges since 2019.
The ignition interlock is often a requirement for those with DWI charges.
Sheared was driving north on Delsea Drive at about 1:39 a.m. May 19, when he left the road, struck a guardrail, re-entered the roadway and then struck a traffic light standard at the intersection with West Garden Road.
He then crossed over the intersection into AG Auto Group, where the vehicle caught fire, engulfing the business.
Sheared was rescued by a good Samaritan. He was then taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
