A Philadelphia man was arrested with a loaded gun after Atlantic City police were tipped off Sunday.
Sgt. Garry Stowe learned that there was a man in the beach block of New York Avenue with a handgun, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Officer Joseph Kelly Jr. responded to find the man leaning into a vehicle through an open door with several other people inside and outside the car, according to the report.
Jose Vega, 19, and other occupants talked with Kelly and other responding officers, Fair said.
Kelly then found a loaded gun in the vehicle, according to the report.
Vega took ownership of the gun and was arrested, Fair said.
The gun had no serial number, making it difficult to trace, which is why it's referred to as a "ghost gun."
It was loaded with hollow-point ammunition and a high-capacity magazine, Fair said.
Vega is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon without a serial number, transporting firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity magazine and possession of hollow-point ammunition.
Vega is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
