Pleasantville motorcyclist killed in Atlantic City crash

A Pleasantville man died Sunday night after he was thrown from his motorcycle.

Pearl Matthews, 61, was traveling east on the White Horse Pike at about 8:40 p.m., when he left the roadway and struck a pole, according to an investigation that included witness accounts.

No other vehicles involved, Atlantic City Lt. Kevin Fair said. The crash happened near mile marker 54.

Matthews was pronounced dead at the scene.

Absecon police also responded.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is assisting in the investigation.
