A Pleasantville man allegedly threw a revolver out his window before pulling over during a motor vehicle stop Wednesday morning.
Angel Pereira, 26, disregarded a stop sign when Officer Danny Aparicio tried to pull him over around West Windsor and Linden avenues, court records show.
Pereira was seen throwing an object out of the driver's side window before complying with the officer, Capt. Stacey Schlachter said.
Aparacio told arriving officers Sgt. Craig Dennis, Officer Rackelli Fontana and K-9 Officer Korey Crosby was he saw, according to the report.
A check of the area turned up a .38-caliber revolver, Schlachter said.
Pereira was taken into custody without incident. But as he got out of the vehicle, a clear bag was found containing crack cocaine, the report alleges.
It's not Pereira's first arrest with a gun in the city, records show.
He was just 20 when he was arrested in 2017, after gunfire damaged two homes.
Pereira was sentenced to five years in prison in that case, records show.
Pereira now is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a weapon, possession of a firearm during a drug offense, possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute and drug paraphernalia.
He also received summonses for failure to stop, driving while suspended and controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Pereira is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
Passenger Jessica Cruz, 28, of Pleasantville, was not charged. She was released on scene.
