Second teen charged in Atlantic City shooting of man and woman

  • News

A 15-year-old boy already being held on a gun offense is now charged in a December shooting that wounded a man and woman.

The suspect, whose name is not being released due to his age, was arrested Jan. 30, with a 15-and 16-year-old, after each was found with a gun during police surveillance in the 1800 block of Hummock Avenue.

The teen now is charged in a shooting more than six weeks earlier, when the victims, both 25, were found wounded just after 3 p.m. Dec. 16 by officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the 400 block of North New Jersey Avenue.

He was already in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center when he was served with the new charges of two counts each of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault, along with charges of conspiracy to commit murder and weapons offenses.

Quadri Cooper, 18, who has been jailed since his arrest on a gun charge days after the shooting, was charged with the double shooting in January.

Cooper, whose name is also listed as Quadir, was arrested with a different 15-year-old after the two were found hiding a gun on a shelf in a convenience store.

He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
