Four teens went on A.C. armed robbery spree in carjacked Maryland vehicle, police say

  • News

Four teens were arrested after they allegedly committed four armed robberies in 70 minutes using a vehicle carjacked from Maryland.

Three of the teens are from Maryland, including a 13- and 14-year-old, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

The victims included an 89-year-old man who was threatened with guns, struck in the chest and robbed of his jacket, cash and cell phone, according to the report.

The unnamed victim was in the area of the 200 block of North New York Avenue at about 6:30 a.m., when he was allegedly attacked.

Police were called to a second scene minutes later in the 1200 block of Baltic Avenue.

That is where the teens allegedly pointed guns at a 45-year-old before stealing a cell phone, Kindle and lunch bag.

The third report came four minutes later, when an 84-year-old gave up his car keys after he was threatened in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue, Fair said.

The final robbery was at 7:38 a.m. around California and Pacific avenues. where a 21-year-old woman was ordered out of her vehicle and struck in the head with a gun, according to the report.

The suspects ran after the victim yelled for help, Fair said. They did not take her vehicle.

The teens ran onto the Boardwalk, where Surveillance Center personnel were able to track them to where they got off the boards near Indiana Avenue.

Bally's Atlantic City security personnel were then able to give information about their direction of flight, Fair said.

Officer Martina Martin found the teens in the 200 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.

All four suspects fled, but were apprehended after brief foot pursuits, Fair said. They were taken into custody without further incident.

The two handguns and one rifle were determined to be Airsoft guns.

The vehicle used in the first three robberies was found on Pennsylvania Avenue. It had been reported stolen during a carjacking on March 20 from Prince George's County, Md.  One of the arrested suspects was in possession of the keys to the vehicle.

Detectives later recovered stolen items inside.

Law enforcement in Prince George’s County was notified regarding possible charges in their jurisdiction, Fair said.

“I am extremely proud of the fine work of the officers and Surveillance Center personnel who quickly apprehended four brazen and violent perpetrators,” Chief James Sarkos said.

All four are charged with carjacking, four counts each of robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, along with nine counts each of conspiracy.

Dvaughndre Adams, 18, of Hyattsville, Md., and Amari Wrights, 18, of Atlantic City, are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending detention hearings.

The 14-year-old from Fort Washington, Md., and 13-year-old from District Heights, Md. are in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
