  • News

A 5-year-old girl was pinned underneath a vehicle after she was struck while riding her bicycle in Atlantic City on Sunday evening.

Police were called to the 200 block of North Montpelier Avenue at 5:44 p.m., Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

Officers arrived to find witnesses tending to the girl, who was struck by GMC Yukon after the driver lost control, according to the report.

Driver Nivida Garcia-Romero, 36, also struck four parked vehicles, Aristizabal said.

The girl was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. Her injuries were not considered serious.

Garcia-Romero and her passengers — an adult and two juveniles — had minor injuries and were treated at the scene, according to the report.

She was issued several motor vehicle summons.

Anyone who witnesses the crash or has video that may help the investigation is asked to call police at 609-347-5744. Officer Franco Sydnor is investigating.
