Three juveniles were arrested Tuesday night for allegedly trying to steal two vehicles.
The boys — ages 12, 15 and 16 — were arrested after running from police, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Police were called to the area of North Carolina and Pacific avenues at about 5:30 p.m. for three boys breaking into vehicles, according to the report.
Officer Latray Butcher tried to speak with the three, who then fled, Fair said.
Butcher caught the 16-year-old who had two screwdrivers, according to the report. Officers Kyle Bender and Michael Regalbuto arrested the younger two after they surrendered.
A resident pointed out two vehicles in a nearby parking lot that each had a shattered window, Fair said. The ignitions also had been tampered with.
All three were charged with two counts each of criminal mischief and burglary, along with a count of resisting arrest.
The 16-year-old also was charged with possession of burglary tools.
Each was released to the custody of a parent.
The Atlantic City Police Department still has wheel locks available free of charge to Atlantic City residents. Anyone interested can come to the Clayton G. Graham Public Safety Building between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
