Somers Point's former deputy director of emergency management is now in jail on child pornography charges.
Roger Tees, 73, a Somers Point resident, is charged with possession and distribution of videos and images of child sexual abuse.
Tees previously served as Galloway Township manager, but was ousted in 2011. Before that, he headed Pleasantville's Urban Enterprise Zone.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a referral of inappropriate content distributed on various email and social messaging platforms, which led to an investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Tees was identified and it was determined that he distributed videos and images of child sexual exploitation, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
Tees resigned last week, Somers Point Police Chief Robert Somers confirmed to BreakingAC.
"At no time was Tees near or dealing with children during his duties," Somers stressed. "He was an administrative coordinator."
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations and Somers Point police assisted in the case.
Tees is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
