A Philadelphia man allegedly was found with a gun and drugs after running from Atlantic City police.
Tereen Fowler, 28, conducted a drug deal in the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue just after 3 p.m. Saturday, according to Detectives Eric Evans and Alberto Valles, who were patrolling the area.
Fowler ran when he saw the detectives approach, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
He dropped a handgun from his waistband as he ran, according to the report. He tried to pick it up, but ran as the detectives got closer.
Evans recovered the discarded gun.
Fowler was arrested a short distance later, and found to have 32 individual bags of heroin and more than 15 grams of cocaine, Fair said.
He is charged with drug and weapons offenses, including certain person not to possess a weapon due to a prior conviction.
“I want to ensure the community in this area, the Atlantic City Police Department will continue to address the issues that are affecting their quality of life, and their concerns are a priority,” Police Chief James Sarkos said.
Fowler is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
