Motorcyclist injured by alleged drunken driver in EHT

  • News

An Egg Harbor Township woman was charged with assault by auto in a crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist Saturday night.

Mona Cole was heading east on the Black Horse Pike in the township at about 5:30 p.m., when she turned left onto Silver Avenue in front of an eastbound motorcyclist, Lt. Ken Marchelle said.

Thomas Hasenauer, of Little Egg Harbor Township, tried to brake and swerve, but his Harley Davidson struck the rear passenger side of Cole's vehicle, according to the report.

Hasenauer was thrown from the motorcycle, Marchelle said.

The motorcyclist was seriously injured. He was treated on the scene by Egg Harbor Township EMS and Atlantic Care paramedics, and then was taken to the Trauma Unit at AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center.

Cole was charged with assault by auto and issued several motor vehicle summonses, including driving while intoxicated, Marchelle said.

The Black Horse Pike westbound was closed at the intersection with Uibel Avenue for about two hours while the crash was being investigated.

Officers Nathan Lahr, Patrick Daly and Joseph Ricevuto are investigating.
