Part of Route 40 was closed for several hours after an Atlantic City dumpster snapped two electrical poles Monday morning.
The employee, whose name was not immediately released, had just offloaded a dumpster when the driver failed to put down the boom before driving off, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
The boom caught the electrical wires, snapping the poles and pulling wires across the roadway, Fair said.
Route 40 was closed in both directions for several hours while personnel worked to replace the poles and wiring.
There were no injuries reported.
