Former EHC nurse admits possessing child sex abuse photos, videos

  • News

An Egg Harbor City man pleaded guilty Wednesday to possessing images of child sexual abuse.

Anthony Barbarino, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Camden to one count of possession of child pornography.

Barbarino's home was searched Aug. 3, 2022, when three electronic devices were taken. A forensics investigation found 93 still photographs and 108 videos of child sexual abuse.

Before his arrest, Barbarino worked as a nurse in Atlantic County, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The office did not indicate where he worked.

There was at least one image portraying sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence, according to the office.

The initial complaint summarizes three of the videos, including one that was one hour and 48 minutes long, and another titled "Incest-Father" that is nearly 11 minutes long that includes a man and two prepubescent girls.

Barbarino faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 13.

Barbarino's wife, Natasha Brooks Barbarino, has a fundraiser on the site spotfund that seems to touch on the 2022 raid.

She talks of issues with her employer — who is not named — after she went into a meeting to "self report" an incident in August of 2022, the same time of her husband's arrest.

"I walked into a meeting with my required reporting office, made at my request, to 'self report' an event that had happened adjacent to me, but did not directly involve me in any way," she wrote. "I believed I was doing the right thing, following the rules as they had been outlined. By the end of that meeting, it was made clear that my upfront honesty and candor were not to be received with any grace or appreciation. Instead, an investigation was initiated for a matter completely unrelated to what I had gone in to report, and the intimidation and threat of potential unfavorable outcomes began."

She then details a list of harassment and interrogation that she claims is related to her mental illness diagnosis.

The fundraiser had raised more than $2,900 of the $7,500 goal as of this writing.

Brooks-Barbarino did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.
