Six arrested in Atlantic City drug investigation

  • News

Six people, including a teenager, were arrested Thursday as part of an investigation into complaints about drugs in Atlantic City.

Detectives from Atlantic City Special Investigations Section and the DEA Liberty Mid-Atlantic High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area recovered heroin, cocaine and marijuana Thursday.

The 17-year-old city boy was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute, then released to the custody of a parent.

The five adults were all charged on summonses, which usually results in them not being brought to jail.

But Tracy Rollins, 46, of Pleasantville, and Quashawn Reynolds, 26, of Atlantic City, were both sent to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Only Rollins remained jailed Monday.

Reynolds, whose first name is also listed as Qahshawn and Qashawn, was bonded out Friday, jail records show. He previously was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2021, related to several cases, including a 2018 robbery at a casino parking garage, records show.

Taquan Callaway, 27, was sent to jail, according to Atlantic City police, but he has not been listed there since 2018, before being sent to prison, jail records show.

This is Callaway's third drug arrest in the city since Jan. 1, when he was allegedly found with 31 grams of suspected heroin, 17½ grams of suspected crack cocaine, various prescription pills and a digital scale, according to police at the time. He was released on summonses each time.

Michael McDonel, 36, of Atlantic City, was charged with drug possession. His arrest came a week after he was released from jail on a shoplifting charge. Atlantic City police charged him on a warrant Oct. 4, but he was released from jail the next day after the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office chose not to make a motion for his detention.
