An Egg Harbor Township man is jailed in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend Thursday night.
Kevin Dorsey, 51, is charged with murder and weapons offenses in the killing of Charlina Burnett.
Police were called to the home in the 300 block of Zion Road at about 7:30 p.m. for a shooting, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Burnett, 44, was found with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the report.
"She was the glue that held the family together," Burnett's father, Buzz Hunt, told BreakingAC. "My daughter and my best friend."
He indicated that she and Dorsey had domestic issues, but does not believe anything was ever filed.
"I can't believe I did that," police heard Dorsey say at the scene, according to the affidavit.
He then waived his Miranda rights and admitted to shooting Burnett, the affidavit states.
Dorsey was arrested. His charges include possession of a weapon by a certain person due to a past criminal history.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
