An Atlantic City man who served time for kidnapping a teenager and forcing her into prostitution was arrested in Atlantic City with a gun and drugs, according to new charges.
Breion Turner, now 33, was arrested Friday, after detectives searched his residence in the 600 block of North Annapolis Avenue, and found a loaded handgun, ammunition and drugs, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
The two-month investigation led by Detective Eric Evans included a search of James Turner Jr.'s residence in the 5200 block of West End Avenue.
It was not confirmed how the two men may be related.
In addition to the gun and ammunition, Atlantic City police seized 653 individual bags of heroin, 46 grams of ecstasy, 314 grams of cocaine, 59 grams of marijuana, 24 grams of methamphetamine and $2,751 in cash, along with paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics, Fair said.
Both are being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending detention hearings.
Breion Turner's criminal record includes pleading guilty in 2018 to a human-trafficking case out of Mercer County, BreakingAC confirmed.
Turner was accused of forcing a 17-year-old girl to perform sexual acts with several men over four days in October 2016, as he held her in his Trenton home against her will.
Several media reports at the time of his arrest described the girl as mentally disabled.
Turner was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree human trafficking Feb. 26, 2018. Under the agreement, he had 3½ years of parole ineligibility.
“This plea will ensure the defendant serves a lengthy prison sentence and pays for exploiting such a vulnerable victim,” Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said in a news release at the time. “I commend our Human Trafficking Unit for its dogged investigation and want the public to know that we are committed to aggressively pursuing these predators who abuse young women and children.”
It was not clear when Turner was released from prison.
Turner is now charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense, possession of hollow-point ammunition, certain person not to possess a weapon, money laundering, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and four counts each of possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within a school zone.
