The FBI has joined local police in looking for a man who robbed two Atlantic County banks in two days.
The first robbery happened in Northfield at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when police were called to the Parke Bank at 501 Tilton Road.
A white male approached the teller and ordered that the money be placed in a bag he provided, Capt. Steven Steinecke said. No weapon was produced.
He fled after receiving the undisclosed amount of money, and was last week fleeing on foot west on Tilton Road.
Police from Egg Harbor Township, Linwood and Pleasantville assisted with the search, which was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as a 45- to 55-year-old white man about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt over a gray long-sleeved shirt, camouflage baseball hat, black surgical-type mask, black pants and dark-colored shoes.
Investigators believe the same man robbed an Absecon bank at about 1 p.m. the next day.
A man matching the same description, this time in light-colored clothes and also with the camouflage baseball cap robbed the First National Bank at 106 New Jersey Ave. in Absecon.
He used a black sedan as a getaway car, authorities said. No one was injured during either robbery.
The FBI is offering a reward of as much as $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI Atlantic City Office at 973-792-3000, Northfield police at 609-641-3122 or Absecon police at 609-641-0667.
