Pleasantville teen charged in attack on officers at EHT-Gami game

  • News

A teenage girl was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly attacked a police officer and a school security worker during a fight after a football game at Egg Harbor Township High School.

A fight between the 16-year-old from Pleasantville and other teens and young adults sparked the assaults, Chief Fred Spano said.

The fight happened after the game in which Egg Harbor Township hosted Absegami High School.

None of those involved were from either school district, Spano said.

Township Officer Robert Moran was treated at the scene and later at the hospital, according to the report.

A EHT High School security officer also sustained an injury.

The girl, whose name was not released due to her age, was charged with aggravated assault upon a law enforcement officer, with more charges coming.

She was released to a parent/guardian.

"Any disorderly behavior by anyone at our school events will not be tolerated and those persons engaged in such conduct will be dealt with swiftly," Spano said. "Any behavior deemed to endanger the safety and well-being of attendees and guests at these events will be met with a decisive response by Egg Harbor Township police officers."
