EHT firefighters battle blaze in West Atlantic City

Egg Harbor Township firefighters battled a large blaze Saturday in the township's West Atlantic City section.

Police responded to the 100 block of Genoa Avenue for a structure fire, and arrived to find the property at 100/102 Genoa Ave. engulfed in flames, Lt. Larry Graham said.

They quickly determined all of the occupants has evacuated safely.

Fire companies from West Atlantic City, Cardiff, Bargaintown and Scullville responded and extinguished the blaze.

Pleasantville and Northfield fire departments also responded for mutual aid.

The fire is believed to be electrical, starting at the meter outside the home, according to the initial investigation.

The Fire Inspection Unit will continue its investigaiton.

The remaining areas of the township were covered by Linwood, Cologne and Absecon fire departments while township firefighters were on scene.
