  • Crime-Courts

A Mays Landing man is charged in a Galloway Township shooting that wounded two teenagers Sunday.

Evan C. Hayes, 18, was charged after an extensive investigation and the execution of two search warrants Thursday morning in Galloway, Lt. Mark D'Esposito said.

Further charges are pending for additional suspects involved in the incident, he said.

Galloway police were first alerted to the shooting by Atlantic City police, after the 16- and 17-year-olds showed up at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

The shooting occurred at The Shoppes at Galloway.

“Our department remains committed to fully investigating any and all violent crime that occurs in Galloway Township,” Chief Richard Barber said. “Ensuring the safety of our public and apprehending violent criminals will always be the top priority of our department.”

Hayes faces charges including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
